Equivalents

There are 16 ounces in one pound, 1000 grams in a kilogram, and 60 minutes in an hour. This information illustrates the concept of Equivalents.

Foodakin makes extensive use of Equivalents and understanding how they work will help make using Foodakin more valuable to you.

Custom Equivalents

Foodakin comes with a number of "built in" Equivalents such as oz-pound and minute-hour but you will undoubtedly need to add your own custom Equivalents that are specific to your operation.

For example, suppose you purchase empty jars for $7.08 per case of 12. Your custom Equivalent in this example would be 1 case = 12 empty jars.

Missing Equivalents

Foodakin looks for Equivalents when calculating Product Costs. If it can't find one it will alert you by displaying "More information is needed to calculate the cost" and provide a button to add the missing Equivalent.

Click the Add button to enter the custom equivalent (in this example 12 jar - empty = 1 case of empty jars). When you are finished click Save.

After you click Save Foodakin will continue calculating the Product Cost.
